Team Fairview
My Mother, Edie, was diagnosed in August 2019 with ALS, but our story begins much earlier. Ever since I can remember she was always the type to never give up and never surrender and naturally, this did not change once she was diagnosed. For the past four years, between trips to Duke ALS clinic, physical therapy, accupuncure, massage therapy, and research trials she has consistently been fighting, and many times winning, against ALS.
With the selfless help from my dad and the extremely generous assistance from ALS United NC, she has been able to keep ALS at bay and continues to enjoy trips to the beach, mountains, and beyond.
Every year the NC ALS Association has helped us tremendously and I cannot emphasize enough how important they are in our fight with ALS. Last year was our first opportunity to walk in person and we were blown away with all the support that was shown;each walk truly inspires hope and spreads awareness.
Thank you for helping us reach our Walk ALS Charlotte fundraising goal! Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Our team is committed to raising money to support people in our community with ALS and spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. Please consider joining our team in the Walk ALS Charlotte or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.

ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
