Welcome to Team EGRAF!

Hello friends,
As you may know, my husband, Eric passed away almost a year ago this month.  Eric was highly active in his work and in his hobbies.  He had no prior health issues and he was living a great life. When he became ill, we had so many questions- why him? How did he develop ALS?  What can do to slow the progression?  Why isn't there anything to really help us fight the disease?  We had more questions than answers.  This is why we need to support ALS research and why we walk to honor Eric, known to many of his friends as EGRAF.

His passing last April was a significant loss to our family of 7.  Our five kids were thriving and Eric had so much to do their success and development, not to mention being my rock and best friend.

Below is a little bit about ALS and the ALS United.  Please take a moment and support our family, Eric and the fight against ALS.

You can click on any team member to donate or click the donate now button. Thank you-we need ALS Warriors to make a difference and find a cure!

Thank you for helping me reach my Walk ALS Triangle fundraising goal! The Walk ALS Triangle raises funds to support the ALS community in North Carolina and to build ALS awareness to find treatments and a cure.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, talk, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, at any age and there is still no known cause or cure.

That's why I'm walking. To build a future without ALS.  To bring help and hope to patients and families affected by this terrible disease, in the hopes that one day ALS is a disease of the past.

Over the past few years, there have been advancements in ALS research, as well as expanded resources and access to care for people living with ALS.

But now, more than ever, we need to keep the momentum going.  We need to continue to push for more treatments and find a cure for ALS.

Please consider joining me at the walk - we will walk and roll together, united with wheelchairs and scooters, families, neighbors and friends, strollers and pets – all are welcome!  If you can't make it to the walk, please consider making a donation. With your support, we can make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease right here in North Carolina.  If you do, please register for Team EGRAF.

Best, Carmen and The Kids
