In 2013 I had an adorable little Weimer start in class. Truman was your typical puppy and Dave, the typical owner. He loved that pup and it showed.

Every once in a while I have a student that I fall madly in love with. Dave was one of them. He would come by the training center every so often just for a hug. He was always smiling. No matter the day, the weather or if Truman was being extra crazy, he was smiling. When he came to tell me he had been diagnosed with ALS I was speechless. Not that it could get worse but the disease decided his face was the first place it was going to attack. His smile.

We lost Dave a few days before the ALS Walk in GSO in 2015.

Today is his birthday. Each year since he left us we have been involved with the the Winston-Salem Walk to Defeat ALS. This year is no different. On April 25 Elite Canine's Comfort Dogs will be attendance with their Canine Cuddle Station. We will be there to give comfort to those who are fighting the disease and the families who have lost their loved ones. Please consider a donation towards the fight against ALS.
