Thank you for helping me reach my Walk ALS Winston Salem fundraising goal!

ALS deeply impacted my and Eric’s family through the illness and death of our father.   Prior to being stricken with ALS, our father was very healthy and active.  Within a few months of developing ALS, he required ‘round the clock care and passed away around a year later.  Unfortunately, we know other families have also lost loved ones prematurely due to ALS.  If ALS has touched your life, you know how devastating it is.   There is no cure for ALS, only some treatments that can prolong the lives of those who suffer, but sadly, it’s always fatal.  There is also no known cause of ALS. The ALS Association is funding research into potential treatments and eventually a cure for ALS.  They also provide support to ALS patients and families, including medical equipment.  In the case of our father, they provided a motorized wheelchair, which was a blessing.    Please join me and Eric in donating to the ALS Association in honor of our father.  Eric and I have committed to match the total donations from Omega employees.  Please feel no obligation to donate, but the donations can be anonymously.   You do not have to donate to walk with us – everyone is invited to walk to show their support for the ALS Association.

Over the last 4 years, we have been blessed to have raised over $32,000 through the annual Omega ALS walks.  Please join us in our goal of matching or exceeding the $10,000 raised last year to get the 5 year total raised to over $42,000.

The Walk ALS Winston Salem raises funds to support the ALS community in North Carolina and to build ALS awareness to find treatments and a cure.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, talk, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, at any age and there is still no known cause or cure.

That's why we're walking. To build a future without ALS.  To bring help and hope to patients and families affected by this terrible disease, in the hopes that one day ALS is a disease of the past.

Over the past few years, there have been advancements in ALS research, as well as expanded resources and access to care for people living with ALS.

But now, more than ever, we need to keep the momentum going.  We need to continue to push for more treatments and find a cure for ALS.
