Rachel Walks for John

All,
Thanks for taking the time to read about why I'm walking for ALS.
John Garner, a great friend and someone I consider family, was diagnosed with ALS this past spring.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, talk, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, at any age and there is still no known cause or cure.
A man who goes above and beyond for those he loves and the one person you always can count on to be in your corner, John embodies the saying to be "full of life."
Since I met John almost three years ago, he's been on the go. A music lover - he's gone to countless concerts. An explorer - he's traveled extensively. A friend - he's been to every big moment he's able. A family man - he's spent countless hours alongside his seven children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings and of course, his wife, Lisa. He's done it all with a smile and quick-wit only the British can provide.
Now it's our time to be on the go for him - to walk next to him as he takes on this horrific disease. I am proud to join Team Garner to walk in John's honor to fight for his future and the future of all those living with and who may be diagnosed with ALS.
If you feel called to do so, I'd be so appreciative of any donation you might give to support John and Team Garner on November 1st in Charlotte.
With love,
Rachel
