Walking for John Garner
Thank you for taking the time to read why I?m walking for ALS and, more importantly, for John Garner.
John is one of those people who makes an impression the moment you meet him. His kindness is genuine, his humor effortless, and his energy contagious. He?s the kind of person who shows up for everyone around him, a loving husband, a proud father, and a loyal friend whose presence has a way of making life feel lighter.
Earlier this year, John was diagnosed with ALS, a progressive disease that slowly takes away the ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe. There?s still no known cause or cure, and the average life expectancy after diagnosis is only a few years. But through it all, John continues to face each day with strength, grace, and that same quick wit that makes everyone smile.
That?s why I?m joining Team Garner at the Walk to Defeat ALS in Charlotte to honor John, to support his family, and to help raise awareness and funds that bring us closer to a world without ALS.
If you?re able, I?d be incredibly grateful for your support, whether that?s by walking alongside us, spreading the word, or making a donation to Team Garner. Every step and every dollar moves us closer to finding a cure and bringing hope to families across North Carolina who are living with this disease.
John?s spirit and love for life remind everyone around him what it means to live fully, to laugh often, and to hold your people close. This walk is for him, and for everyone facing ALS with courage and heart.
With love and gratitude,
Thomas King
