2026 Triangle Walk ALS: Mr Eric Strom - ALS United North Carolina

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in October 2023. My symptoms have progressed very slowly and are limited to my bulbar region which impact my speech and swallowing. These symptoms have reached a point where I am unable to work. I recently retired from a career I loved after working for 37 years. Wendy plan to spend our time advocating for ALS, fundraising and traveling while I am still able.

Wendy has formed Team StromStrong in my honor and I am thankful for the support we have received.

Thank you for helping me reach my Walk ALS Triangle fundraising goal! The Walk ALS Triangle raises funds to support the ALS community in North Carolina and to build ALS awareness to find treatments and a cure.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, talk, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, at any age and there is still no known cause or cure.

That's why I'm walking. To build a future without ALS. To bring help and hope to patients and families affected by this terrible disease, in the hopes that one day ALS is a disease of the past.

Over the past few years, there have been advancements in ALS research, as well as expanded resources and access to care for people living with ALS.

But now, more than ever, we need to keep the momentum going. We need to continue to push for more treatments and find a cure for ALS.
